InStride Health is proud to share that Mona Potter, MD, the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Strategy Officer, was a featured guest on Tech Can’t Save Us. In the episode, host Paul David talks with Dr. Potter about one of the biggest gaps in youth mental health: the distance between treatment that works and treatment families can actually get.
Cognitive behavioral therapy with exposure has decades of evidence behind it for anxiety and OCD. Yet most young people who need it never receive it. Dr. Potter explains that the barriers aren’t scientific — it's long waitlists, too few specialists, and where a family happens to live.
The conversation looks at how InStride was built to close that gap. Dr. Potter walks through the InStride model:
- A time-bound, 4–8 month program
- A dedicated care team of therapist, exposure coach, and psychiatrist
- Virtual delivery, so that exposure practice happens at school, at home, or out in the community, wherever anxiety and OCD actually show up
She also shares the outcomes InStride publishes each year, including that 97% of graduates show overall clinical improvement.*
Dr. Potter and Paul also discuss what it takes to scale specialty care without diluting it. That includes going in-network with major commercial insurers and expanding state by state. It also includes using technology to support care teams while every clinical decision stays with a clinician. Finally, she reflects on nearly two decades at Mass General, McLean Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, and on why she ultimately left to build InStride.
